When individuals are financially well, it enables them to make calculated
and informed decisions regarding spend. A national assessment
conducted by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority on basic
financial literacy found that African Americans answered only 38% of
the survey correctly. Unfortunately, marginalized populations are at the
forefront of the financial literacy gap in the United States. Veronica
Powell has made it her mission to help bridge this gap.

Growing up in an underserved community where 70% of the population
lives below poverty level, Veronica overcame the statistics. She received
a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from UW-
Milwaukee and gained professional experience in accounting and tax by holding roles with Nolan Accounting Firm and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. In 2019, her passion led her to birth Empowering Wealth Financial Coaching, which offers financial roadmap planning and literacy
training for minority business owners.

In 2020, Veronica expanded her vision to include community youth by starting a non-profit organization called Empowering Youth Wealth Inc. where she drives financial advocacy. To date,
she has helped secure access to high quality financial literacy programming for 200+ young students. She is also an active member in the faith community, serving on the Evolving Finance Ministry for Evolve Church, Milwaukee.

Today, she serves as a full-time educator with Waukesha Technical Community College and is a board member with the Wisconsin Chinese Chamber of Commerce, working to support business
growth for minority populations. She resides in Milwaukee, WI with her husband and two daughters, whom she cherishes creating memories with. In her spare time, one can find her traveling, learning world cultures, and gardening.
